Ipoh’s Tasik Cermin (Mirror Lake) | A Hidden Mountain Paradise
Considered one of Ipoh’s most mysterious natural wonders, Tasik Cermin (Mirror Lake) lies quietly hidden behind the Kuan Yin Cave and Da Cheng Yan Buddhist Temple. The lake is situated in a former quarry area, and visitors must walk through an old tunnel to reach this dreamy body of water, embraced by surrounding hills and lush greenery. When sunlight hits the surface, the water perfectly reflects the mountains, creating a serene, mirror-like effect—hence its name, Mirror Lake.
The Natural Wonders of the Two Lake Areas
This approximately 90-meter-long limestone tunnel is over a century old, originally excavated in the early 20th century by Hakka miners for iron ore extraction. Today, the Ipoh City Council has entrusted the roughly 65-acre area to “Tasik Cermin Tourism Sdn. Bhd.” for eco-friendly development, with a five-year plan to gradually transform it into the “Tasik Cermin Eco Park.”
The park is divided into two main areas: Tasik Cermin 1, the more well-known lake, can be accessed directly via a walking tunnel; while Tasik Cermin 2 is hidden in another valley and requires a sampan ride through a water tunnel to reach, offering a more pristine and tranquil landscape that feels like stepping into another world.
